It was nice, but I never really got much out of it. Your best bet is, as others have mentioned, to wait for the steam sales to occur. Very frequently you can get a 75% discount. I picked up Sims 3 and pets bundled together for £9 or so. The expansions are £5 each and stuff packs are £3 each.
